Designer drugs are sold as “legal” products such as Bath Salts, plant food, or herbal products. Many substance abusers feel that because the product is “legal” that they are not abusing substances. This is not the case, and it is important to note that designer drugs have similar effects to other drugs of abuse.
Often designer drugs are difficult to detect, and for this reason PACE utilizes the most up to date drug testing protocols. PACE focuses on helping clients to achieve sobriety from all mind altering substances including designer drugs.
We understand that client’s different circumstances and situations have lead to their drug abuse. For example, some have experimented with designer drugs because they thought they were legal, while others used them believing they wouldn’t show up on a drug test. Whatever the circumstance, many find themselves addicted to designer drugs and with deteriorating health. Little is known about the physical impacts on these drugs, especially on the central nervous system and motor skills. In response, our PACE Program helps clients detox if necessary and tailors a treatment plan according to their individual and physical needs. This can include, but is not limited to psychosocial approaches and pharmacological treatment, involvement in 12-Step recovery community, individual therapy, weekly case management sessions, psychoeducational groups, relapse prevention techniques, group, individual and experiential therapy, and general life skills that may have been neglected while in active addiction. PACE believes that it is important to equip clients with the tools necessary to achieve and maintain long term abstinence and live healthy and productive lives.
